Job Summary

The Team
The Guardianship Youth Service Prince George team is a new and forming group dedicated to making a meaningful impact in the lives of children and youth. Consisting of mostly new members, the makeup includes a Social Program Officer Assistant, a Child, Youth and Family Support Worker, five Guardianship Workers, and one Team Lead. This passionate and friendly team is focused on collaborating and building strong relationships with both the youth they serve and their community partners. The team is committed to creating a safe, stable environment, finding permanency for children and youth, and helping young people transition to adulthood, while embracing the challenges of working with youth at risk. This is a supportive and energetic team where every member is learning, growing, and contributing to the shared mission of making a difference.

The Role
This position interacts with children, families, youth in care and foster parents and provides case management assistance to Ministry social workers, clinicians, and probation officers who maintain case management responsibility for service delivery. Key responsibilities include assisting in the conducting of child abuse/neglect investigations, supporting youth-in-care (YIC) and service providers in independent living plan; implementing planned moves of children-in-care (CIC), maintaining contact with CIC, foster parents, and families; liaising with community services for Children and Youth with Support Needs (CYSN); supporting the delivery of Children and Youth Mental Health (CYMH) services; and other related duties as required.

Qualifications
Education and Experience:


Secondary School Graduation or Equivalent AND one of the following:
  • 2 years of post-secondary studies towards a degree, diploma or certificate in a related human services field or equivalent discipline (Human Services fields or equivalent include Social Work, Child & Youth Care, Psychology, Sociology, Criminology, Anthropology, Early Childhood Education, Indigenous Studies, Education, Theology and Nursing) PLUS a minimum of 1 year or more of related** work experience.

OR
  • 1 year of post-secondary studies towards a degree, diploma or certificate in a related human services field or equivalent discipline (Human Services fields or equivalent include Social Work, Child & Youth Care, Psychology, Sociology, Criminology, Anthropology, Early Childhood Education, Indigenous Studies, Education, Theology and Nursing) PLUS a minimum of 2 years or more of related** work experience.

OR
  • Minimum of 3 years or more of related** work experience.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid unrestricted Class 5 BC Driver's License.


Preference May be Given to applicants with the following:

  • Applicants who have experience using the Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD) Integrated Case Management (ICM) and/or Management Information Systems (MIS) computer systems.
  • Applicants who self-identify as First Nations, Métis or Inuit with the required combination of education and experience.
