Job Summary
The Team
An integral member of a multi-disciplinary community Child and Youth Mental Health Team and in coordination with other community agencies and professionals, you provide a range of mental health services to children, youth and their families, when the child or youth is suffering from serious emotional, psychological, behavioural or psychiatric illness. The child and youth mental health team is made up of multi-disciplinary clinicians and support workers that work in community and rural areas. The team is dedicated to improving the mental health and wellness of Indigenous and non-Indigenous children, youth and families providing services such as individual, family and group counselling. The team utilizes unique strengths of each team member to provide trauma informed and culturally safe services. These evidence-based services include outreach support.
The Role
As a Child and Youth Mental Health (CYMH) Clinician, you provide direct clinical services such as intake, assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and crisis intervention for children, youth and their families. Consulting with community agencies, schools, hospitals, and other ministry programs, you understand the importance of being involved in community education, development, coordination and prevention/early intervention programs. You build and maintain relationships with a wide variety of partners in the community to ensure that conflicts are resolved and appropriate outcomes are achieved. This role involves working within a team environment with access to education and support for learning and training to advance your clinical skills and competencies.

In addition to the re-imbursement of relocation costs (where applicable), the incentive program provides the following:
*Full payment of the incentive is based on regular eligible classifications (SPO R18 to SPO R30) working in an approved location for the full fiscal year (April 1 to March 31). A pro-rated incentive payment may be provided to candidates who work a partial year and/or part-time hours.
Hazelton is located where the Skeena and Bulkley Rivers meet, at the foot of Stekyoden in the Coast Mountains. Our Village was founded in 1866 and quickly became the hub of the Northwest. Ancient trails became routes for dog sleds, horseback riders and pack trains to the Cariboo and Yukon gold rushes. Hazelton was often where they began their overland journey, disembarking the paddle-wheelers from Prince Rupert on the Coast.
Prince Rupert is a quaint marine city where deer and grizzly bears can be easily spotted and whale-watching and nature excursions are popular activities. Other attractions include the old-growth rainforest and ancient rock carvings.
Smithers is filled with activities like fishing, boating, camping, hiking, skiing, and shopping. The Wet'suwet'en people are very close with the community, and have introduced many traditions. This quaint town with a friendly atmosphere is a wonderful place to live and visit.
Known most famously for their Kermode (Spirit) Bear, Terrace is perfect for hiking, mountain biking, camping, rock climbing, canoeing, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling and snowshoeing. The First Nations in the area, the Tsimshian, are proud to show others the First Nation's culture, which includes traditional longhouses.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future permanent an/or temporary vacancies in these and other communities throughout the province.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to two (2) days at home per week as per the Telework Agreement

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Masters in Counselling, Social Work, Educational Counselling, Clinical Counselling, Clinical Psychology or Child and Youth Care or comparable graduate degree at the Master's level in a similar subject may be considered.
- NOTE: If your degree was obtained outside of Canada, you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services ( ICES ). You must provide a basic report by the closing date of this posting to be considered.
- Applicants with a completed Bachelor degree and are within 6 months of completion of their Masters degree may be considered. Applicants must provide a letter from their educational institution confirming completion of their Masters degree requirements.
- Minimum of one (1) year full-time equivalent experience working with children and youth and their families, with responsibility for providing a wide range of community based mental health services.
- Must possess and maintain a valid class 5 BC Driver's license with no restriction or equivalent (i.e. from another Canadian Province).
Preference may be given to applicants with the following:
- Two (2) years or more experience working with children and youth and their families, with responsibility for providing a wide range of community based mental health services.
- Applicants who self-identify as Indigenous (First Nations, Métis or Inuit) with the required combination of education and experience.
