Job Summary

The Team

The Integrated Collaborative Permanency Teams in the northern communities of Dawson Creek, Fort St. John, Kitimat and Terrace are close-knit, supportive groups that work together to make a lasting impact in the lives of children. Comprised of seasoned professionals and new members, these established teams are dedicated to ensuring every child is safe, stable, and has a plan for permanency. The team collaborates closely with other local Ministry Office service delivery teams including Children and Youth Support Needs, Youth Probation, Children and Youth Mental Health, and Child Protection, fostering an environment where connection, reliability, and kindness are displayed. We pride ourselves on creating a welcoming space where everyone can grow, develop, and contribute to meaningful change.

The Role

These positions, in Dawson Creek, Fort St. John, Kitimat and Terrace are primarily responsible for Guardianship duties, however, Resource and Out of Care duties will also be required at times. In this role, you'll play a vital part in developing and overseeing comprehensive care plans for children, ensuring their safety, stability, and well-being. At times you will also help by working closely with caregivers to support children through entry into care, placement, and permanency, ensuring their rights are upheld and their milestones celebrated; and at times, facilitate and support Out of Care options, assess placements, and maintain a range of resources for children in need. This role offers the chance to make a meaningful difference in children's lives while enjoying the vibrant community and outdoor activities that the area has to offer. Qualifications
Education and Experience:


Applicants may be considered who meet the preferred OR expanded credentials and experience requirements

1. Preferred Credentials:
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Social Work or Bachelor's Degree or higher in Child & Youth Care OR Master's Degree in Educational Counselling Psychology/Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology with completion of a practicum in family and child welfare OR
  • In-service Ministry of Children and Family Development employees who have a regular SPO 24-30 base position that requires delegation under the Child, Family and Community Services Act (CFCSA).
  • NOTE: If this education was obtained outside of Canada, you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services ( ICES ). You must provide a comprehensive report and the MCFD supplemental report by the closing date of this posting to be considered; OR A candidate may be considered equivalent when they are registered and a member in good standing with the BC College of Social Workers or has a letter from the College confirming that their application for registration has been approved.


2. Expanded Credentials:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a Human Services field OR Bachelor's Degree witha Major/Honors in a Human Services field OR Master's level graduate Certificate/Diploma in a Human Services field AFTER the completion of an unrelated Bachelor's Degree.
  • PLUS, a minimum of one year of related OR job-specific work experience.
  • Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
    • NOTE: If this education was obtained outside of Canada, you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services ( ICES ). You must provide a basic report by the closing date of this posting to be considered.

Human Services fields include: Psychology, Sociology, Criminology, Anthropology, Early Childhood Education, Indigenous Studies, Education, Theology or Nursing.

Preference will be given to applicants with the following:
  • Preferred education credentials AND/OR in-service Ministry of Children and Family Development employees who hold a regular SPO 24-30 base position that requires delegation under the Child, Family and Community Services Act (CFCSA).

Preference may be given to applicants with the following:
  • Experience working as a Social Worker carrying a Guardianship and/or Resource caseload.
  • Who currently hold, previously held and/or are immediately eligible for C3 or C4 delegation under Child, Family and Community Service Act.
  • Experience working with Indigenous children, youth, families, and communities.
  • Applicants possessing SAFE home study certification and experience and Resource and Payment (RAP) experience and /or training.
  • Applicants who self-identify as Indigenous (First Nations, Métis or Inuit) with the required combination of education and experience.

Proviso:
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 BC Driver's License with no restriction or equivalent (i.e. from another Canadian Province).

About this Position:
There are four (4) full-time permanent positions available
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and/or permanentvacancies in these and other communities throughout the province.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to two (2) days at home per week as per the Telework Agreement
A Criminal Record Check (CRC) and Criminal Record Review Act Check (CRRA)will berequired.
