Job Summary
The Team
The Youth Forensic Psychiatric Services (YFPS) team is an established group committed to providing essential mental health services to young people involved in the justice system. This multi-disciplinary team works closely with probation services, community agencies and contracted service providers, as well as Youth Custody Services staff to deliver Court-ordered assessments. Join us in making a significant impact by supporting youth who are navigating complex legal and mental health challenges.
The Role
In this role, you will supervise a team of Health Care Workers, Registered Psychiatric Nurses, and Registered Nurses. As the Shift Supervisor, you will train and orient new hires, as well as directing the delivery of comprehensive nursing services in your staff. You will also work collaboratively with YFPS partners, such as Youth Justice, Youth Custody Services, and the Maples Adolescent Treatment Centre. This position gives you the opportunity to support the well-being of both the staff you supervise, as well as the delivery of critical care to vulnerable youth. This position allows you to make a difference in the lives of youth experiencing behavioral issues, addictions, and mental health challenges.

About this Position:
Salary range subject to increase, pending implementation of the BCNU 18th Main and Component Agreements.
2 Positions available.
These positions have full time on-site requirements.
These are shift work positions, and the successful applicant will be required to work a combination of day shifts, evening shifts, and/or night shifts. You will also be expected to work a rotating schedule based on operational requirements.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.
A Criminal Record Check (CRC) and Criminal Record Review Act Check (CRRA) will be required.
Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.

Education and Experience Requirements
- Registered or eligible for registration with the BC College of Nurses & Midwives (BCCNM).
- Current CPR certification.
- Minimum of 2 years related nursing experience. (E.g., mental health nurse experience, psychiatric nurse experience, etc.)
Preference may be given to applicants with:
- Supervisory experience in a relevant health or social sector environment with related formal supervisory training.
