Job Description
Just HR is conducting a search for a Director, People & Culture to lead a high-impact HR function and drive modernization efforts across all facets of HR. Reporting to the VP, HR, this role will play a critical part in transforming HR processes and systems to support a more sophisticated and strategic people function. The successful candidate will lead a team of four HR professionals and work closely with senior leadership to align HR initiatives with the company’s long-term growth and operational objectives. Our client is a dynamic, private equity-owned organization in the transportation sector, undergoing significant change to enhance its HR infrastructure. This role is ideal for a seasoned HR leader who thrives in fast-paced environments and is passionate about building and optimizing HR strategies to support a growing workforce. The company operates on a hybrid model with three days a week in the office based in Richmond with plans to relocate many HQ functions to downtown Vancouver later in 2025.
Responsibilities:
- As part of the company’s HR modernization efforts, the Director will play a key role in refining HR policies, optimizing processes, and implementing more sophisticated workflows to enhance efficiency and compliance.
- Using HR metrics and analytics, the Director will assess key workforce trends related to hiring, turnover, compensation, benefits utilization, and employee engagement, providing data-driven insights to support business decisions.
- The Director, Human Resources will ensure that all HR practices comply with employment legislation, company policies, and safety standards. This includes overseeing WorkSafe BC claims, managing return-to-work procedures, and implementing workplace accommodations to support employees effectively.
- This individual will lead workplace investigations by conducting thorough assessments, identifying potential risks, and developing appropriate solutions to address employee relations concerns.
- As a key advisor to leadership, the Director will provide guidance on policy interpretation, disciplinary actions, and conflict resolution strategies to ensure fair and consistent decision-making across the organization.
- The Director will oversee the full talent acquisition cycle, collaborating with leadership to refine recruitment strategies, source high-quality candidates, and enhance selection processes to attract and retain top talent.
- Onboarding and orientation programs will be managed by this individual to ensure new employees experience a seamless transition into the organization and are set up for success.
- The Director will be responsible for managing the HRIS and other key HR systems, ensuring that personnel records remain accurate, compliance requirements are met, and data integrity is maintained.
- The Director will also lead diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives by fostering an inclusive workplace culture and implementing programs that promote fairness and high performance across all levels of the organization.
- Ensure that all HR practices comply with employment legislation, company policies, and safety standards. This includes overseeing WorkSafe BC claims.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; a Master’s degree is preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive HR experience, including at least 5 years in leadership roles with direct team management.
- Professional HR certification such as the Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) is highly desirable.
- Experience in the transportation industry or a similar sector is a plus.
- Proven experience in leading HR transformations, particularly in organizations undergoing growth or restructuring.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret HR metrics and drive data-informed decisions.
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, with experience in implementing DEI initiatives.

Remuneration:
- $120K - $130K base salary, bonus, competitive benefits programs,
