Classroom teaching will occur on the Coquitlam Campus and clinical practice courses can occur at any agency within the Lower Mainland.

The Role
The Mental Health and Personal Support Work Department in the Faculty of Health Sciences invites applications for contract faculty to teach in the Health Care Assisting ( HCA ) Program.

Responsibilities

You will instruct students, facilitate learning and evaluate student progress in College courses.

You will plan, organize and manage learning activities and resources, provide academic advice to learners and maintain quality learner-centered instruction.
To Be Successful in this Role You Will Need

You will instruct students, facilitate learning and evaluate student progress in college courses. You will plan, organize and manage learning activities and resources, provide academic advice to learners and maintain quality learner-centered instruction.

Qualification:
Current unrestricted (i.e., no conditions on license or provincial registration) full registration as a Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives with undergraduate degree in Nursing or health related field, Master's degree preferred.


    •Demonstrate ability to teach adult learners (e.g., completion of Provincial Instructor Diploma or equivalent education or previous teaching experience with satisfactory references).


    •Recent teaching experience in clinical, classroom and/or laboratory settings in a Health Care Assistant or nursing related program or equivalent.

    •Three or more years (1 year =1400 hours) of full-time Canadian nursing experience with relevant knowledge of the Canadian health Care system, the roles and responsibilities of healthcare team members and current policies and procedures within residential and community care settings. Nursing work experience to include:

      •Experience in working with older adults with complex health needs; and/or
      •Experience in home support and multi-level/ complex care.

    •Evidence of completion of course work in Indigenous cultural safety and humility.

    •Evidence of completion of the Health Care Assistant Practice in BC course

    •Curriculum development/ maintenance experience/ expertise.

    •Effective interpersonal skills, initiative, and creativity.

    •Self-directedness, strong work ethic and excellent writing ability.

    •Ability to collaborate and contribute effectively to team activities.

    •Satisfactory current references
