Computer Aided Facilities Management Computer Aided Drafting Technician

System & Support Facilities

Vancouver, BC

Provides application development, support, consultation and operation of an existing, but evolving enterprise CAFM system; provides services related to the implementation, maintenance and upkeep of Facilities Management AutoCAD drawings and related Facilities and Real Estate data for the Organizations (VCH, FHA, PHC and PHSA) through focused data collection methods such as coordinating and updating integrated systems that include; Computer Assisted Design (CAD), Computer Assisted Facility Management (CA FM) database, and Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS); maintains a library of as- built building documents by compiling materials, creating files and cataloguing materials , performs skilled computer aided drafting work using AutoCAD software to prepare as-built detailed architectural drawings for buildings; provides work direction and supervises designated staff.

What you'll do
  • Prepares up-to-date as-built detailed architectural drawings by methods such as compiling information from existing manual drawings and other computerized plans, performing site inspections, consultants and trades to obtain related information and producing drawings utilizing AutoCAD software on a personal computer to assist with in-house construction and maintenance projects.
  • Establishes and maintains contact with the Organizations' departments requesting technical solutions, including floor plans, building and property management information, space characteristics and usage, employee and occupancy data and workplace assets (furniture and equipment).
  • Updates existing drawings by methods such as linking CAD and CAFM systems, verifying original drawings with the physical location through on-site surveys , revising computer-aided drafting files, updating manuals and forwarding copies to Planning, Capital Implementation, Maintenance and Operations and/or other interested parties as necessary .
  • Reproduces computerized drawings by methods such as searching computerized drafting database for applicable drawing and generating a reproduction for use by maintenance personnel, consultants and other various hospital departments; sends original materials off- site for reference purposes.
  • Inputs consultant's drawings and Building Information Models (BIM) into the computerized database by electronic transfer of information, scanning the information, and/or transcribing the manual drawing using AutoCAD on a personal computer, Inputs CAFM data to maintain currency with CAD drawings and produces web-ready drawings for posting to Extranet/Intranet.
  • Maintains and updates the CAFM System (Archibus) database by methods such as compiling information from various sources such as consultants, planners, manuals and user departments , inputs data into the system using appropriate software, and catalogues technical data information to assist trades personnel in repair and preventive maintenance of equipment.
  • Develops and maintains library of as-built building documents such as mechanical, architectural and electrical drawings, maintenance manuals, and CAFM system manuals by method s such as compiling materials from various sources, creating and/or updating master files of plans and manuals, cataloguing materials in accordance with established procedures, revising indexes using applicable software on a personal computer and filing as appropriate for reference purposes.
  • Maintains a computerized catalogue system of Building Information Models (BIM), architectural, electrical, mechanical, structural, survey, landscaping, communications, and leasing information for the purpose of managing facilities and space.
  • Maintains the Facilities Planning Extranet/Intranet project management website Archibus, the external Drawing Viewer website and the digital online Plan Room tool that provides project and planning information to the region, in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Assists in analyzing, testing and troubleshooting web-cased Facilities Management tools (Archibus Web Central). Identifies problems and suggests solutions. Monitors user feedback of Facilities Systems and conveys feedback to development team as necessary.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

What you bring

Qualifications
  • Grade 12, graduation from a recognized program in drafting plus five years ' recent, related experience, including one year in a supervisory capacity, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to organize work.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
