Job Summary

The Team:
At the Ministry of Forests, our FOI Records Management Team is a small, well-established, and close-knit group known for its efficiency and focus. With a Manager, Team Lead, two FOI Coordinators, and an Information Access Analyst, this team plays a vital role in managing records and fulfilling FOI requests across the Ministry. Working alongside program staff and FOI Analysts, our team is highly communicative, approachable, and passionate about making a difference through meticulous records management and service excellence.

The Role:
This role is a great opportunity to dive into the world of records management, helping to coordinate FOI requests, stay organized with follow-ups, and communicate clearly to ensure information is delivered on time. You will play a key part in supporting citizens and clients by making sure FOI requests are handled accurately and in line with FOIPPA standards. As part of our small, dedicated team, you will collaborate with a range of Ministry staff and program areas and learn how things work behind the scenes in a Natural Resource Ministry - an ideal entry-level role for building valuable skills in government service and customer support.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Secondary school graduation or equivalent.
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience working with either:
    • the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIPPA) and other regulations, policies, and procedures related to the collection, use and disclosure of information; OR,
    • the Information Management Act (IMA) and other regulations, policies, and procedures related to records and information management in a corporate setting.
      Note: preference may be given to an applicant with a minimum of one (1) year of experience with both FOIPPA and IMA.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience working in a high-volume, customer-service environment.
  • Preference may be given to applicants with Content Manager (TRIM), CLIFF and/or SharePoint experience.

About this Position:
There is currently one (1) permanent, full time position available in Victoria.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to one (1) day at home per week subject to an approved Telework Agreement.
Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies in Victoria.
A Criminal Record Check (CRC) will be required.
