Job Summary

The Team
At the Violation Ticket Centre, our team of 24 is committed to supporting the court system and ensuring access to justice for everyone in our community. As a Violation Ticket Centre Clerk, you will collaborate closely with court staff, Registry Technicians, and external partners, including, the Judiciary, legal counsel, and the RCMP. The Role
The centralized Violation Ticket Centre (VTC) is responsible for the administrative functions associated with processing violation ticket disputes from individual court locations across the Province. These functions include data entry from certified extract, establishing court files, scheduling hearing dates for all files across the province, producing the Notice of Hearing and through collaboration with the Judiciary, processing VT Statements and Written Reasons, and Applications for Adjournments and Affidavits (over 30 days). The Centre also serves as a central call centre for the public, enforcement agencies, ICBC and Court Services Branch staff to address inquiries regarding violation tickets and hearing event scheduling.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Secondary School graduation or equivalent (e.g. GED).
  • One year experience providing administrative/clerical services in an office setting.
  • Experience or training in keyboarding, database systems, spreadsheet, the Internet/Intranet and other standard computer applications.
  • Must possess a minimum typing speed of 40 wpm

Preference may be given for:
  • One year Court Registry experience or similar experience in a legal environment.
  • Experience working with angry and/or upset customers/clients.
  • Experience with the Justice Information System (JUSTIN).

Proviso:
  • May be required to work overtime.
