Job Description

Is working with school-aged children and and youth in an inclusive environment your calling? This position ensures the provision of an enriched leisure program by providing opportunities for learning and skill development to children and youth, including participants with special needs.  Child and Youth workers ensure that the activities being offered are designed to promote an inclusive program within the community and they develop and implement developmentally appropriate educational and recreational activities for children and/or youth.

Job Title: Child & Youth Worker | Casual
Location: Vancouver/Richmond
Start Date: As soon as possible
Term/Status: Casual On Call
Hourly Wage: $27.83 + 10.6% in lieu of benefits

Requirements/Education/Experience:   

  • Certificate or minimum of 1 year in related studies toward a degree such as Therapeutic Recreation, Leisure Studies, Child Care, Social Sciences, or Education.        
  • Minimum 1 year direct experience with children and youth in a recreational setting.        
  • Strong interpersonal and team building skills.        
  • Formal training in the area of skill development and behavior management an asset.     
  • Requires physical strength, good balance, mobility and endurance for recreational activities.        
  • Criminal Record Clearance        
  • Medical Clearance        
  • Satisfactory Driver’s Abstract        
  • Restricted Class 4 Driver's Licence Preferred (on the job training provided if needed)      
  • Valid First Aid/CPR        
  • Demonstrated competency in English written and verbal communication        
  • Basic computer literacy        
  • Eligible to work in Canada
