Job Summary
The Team
The Cariboo District Service Area 18 Operations team is an established and collaborative group dedicated to maintaining and improving transportation infrastructure in the region. You'll work directly with three other experienced Area Managers-two focused on roads and one on bridges-alongside a District Operations Technician, all under the leadership of the Operations Manager. The team values diverse perspectives and works closely with a range of professionals, including technicians and operations managers, to ensure safe and efficient travel for all road users.
The Role
As an Area Manager, Roads, you'll play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient movement of goods, services, and people within your designated area. This role offers a unique opportunity to be the direct connection between the ministry and the public, working hands-on in the community and out on the roads. You'll have the chance to identify and advocate for improvements in safety and mobility while engaging with local residents to understand their needs. This position is ideal for someone passionate about making a tangible impact in their region while fostering inclusive and accessible transportation solutions.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in the field of civil engineering, structural engineering, construction technology, geology, geography, or project management and one (1) year *related experience; OR,
- Diploma from a recognized Institute of Technology (e.g., Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of BC) in the field of civil engineering, structural engineering, construction technology, geology, geography, or project management and three (3) years *related experience; OR,
- Grade 12 (or GED) and a minimum of five (5) years *related experience.
- Valid Class 5 BC Drivers license in good standing.
- Area Manager Roads Certificate of Completion required through BCIT and MOTI (if certification isn't already obtained, accreditation must be achieved within 1 year of appointment). Note: Area Manager Roads Certificate of Completion through BCIT and MOTI is required to be appointed to the AO 24 level.
*Related experience must include the following:
- Experience in highway construction and/or maintenance, project management, contract management, traffic management or audit processes, procedures and practices.
Preference may be given to applicants with the following:
