Job Summary
The Team
The North Peace Service Area 22 Operations is comprised of a dedicated team of professionals whose focus is ensuring the safe and efficient movement of all road users in our unique area of northern British Columbia. Comprised of both new and experienced staff, the team thrives on collaboration and building strong stakeholder relationships. We work together to administer the road and bridge maintenance agreement, deliver minor projects through our District program, and ensure the safety of the public and protect our infrastructure when responding to emergencies.
The Role
As an Area Manager, Roads, you'll play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient movement of goods, services, and people within your designated area. This role offers a unique opportunity to be the direct connection between the ministry and the public, working hands-on in the community and out on the roads. You'll have the chance to identify and advocate for improvements in safety and mobility while engaging with local residents to understand their needs. This position is ideal for someone passionate about making a meaningful impact where they live and work.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
** Related field of study means study in the field of civil engineering, structural engineering, construction technology, surveying, geology, geography, or project management.
*Related experience must include one or more of the following:
NOTE: The Area Manager Roads Certificate of Completion through BCIT and MOTI is required to be appointed to the AO 24 level. Successful applicants who do not hold a certificate of completion would have to complete the certificate within 18 months (1.5 years) and will be appointed at the AO 21 level until completion.

The local hills are perfect for cross-country skiing and snowmobiling in the winter months.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- University or college degree and one-year *related experience; OR,
- Diploma in a **related field of study and three years *related experience; OR,
- Grade 12 (or GED) and a minimum of five years *related experience; OR,
** Related field of study means study in the field of civil engineering, structural engineering, construction technology, surveying, geology, geography, or project management.
- Valid Class 5 BC Drivers license in good standing.
- Road Area Manager Certificate of Completion required through BCIT (or another technical institution).
*Related experience must include one or more of the following:
- Highway construction and/or maintenance,
- Project management,
- Contract management,
- Traffic management surveying or audit processes,
- Procedures and practices.
NOTE: The Area Manager Roads Certificate of Completion through BCIT and MOTI is required to be appointed to the AO 24 level. WILLINGNESS STATEMENTS:
- Holds a valid Class 5 BC Drivers license in good standing;
- Able and willing to climb up and down steep slopes and between structures;
- Able and willing to respond to emergencies that may occur at any time during the day or night;
- Able and willing to work in hazardous conditions/locations;
- Able and willing to obtain Area Manager Roads Certificate of Completion within 18 months of appointment;
- Able and willing to speak publicly;
- Able and willing to travel frequently;
- Able and willing to work in an office environment;
- Able and willing to work outside during periods of inclement weather and/or rough terrain.
- Able and willing to work alone and in remote areas.
