Voice, Data and/or Fiber Technician

Alexis Fiscal Advisory is seeking a skilled and motivated Voice, Data, and/or Fiber Technician to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of voice, data, and fiber optic networks for our clients. You will work closely with our project management and technical teams to ensure high-quality service delivery and system performance.

This position requires strong technical expertise in voice/data/fiber infrastructure, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. You will be an essential part of our ongoing efforts to provide reliable and efficient communication services to our customers.

• Installation and Maintenance:

  • Install, configure, and maintain voice, data, and fiber optic communication systems for clients.

  • Perform cable pulling, fiber splicing, testing, and troubleshooting.

  • Ensure all systems are installed according to specifications and industry best practices.

• Troubleshooting and Support:

  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to voice, data, and fiber connectivity.

  • Respond to service requests and provide on-site troubleshooting and repair services for clients.

  • Perform system diagnostics, testing, and repairs on a variety of network equipment including routers, switches, and fiber optic components.

• Client Interaction and Documentation:

  • Communicate effectively with clients to ensure project specifications are met and resolve any service-related concerns.

  • Document all installations, service work, and maintenance tasks accurately in the company’s service management systems.

  • Provide training and guidance to clients on proper system usage and troubleshooting techniques.

• Network Optimization and Upgrades:

  • Assist in optimizing and upgrading existing network infrastructures to improve performance and scalability.

  • Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure optimal functionality.

• Compliance and Safety:

  • Follow all safety protocols and industry standards during installation and service activities.

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements and company policies.

• Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications (e.g., CompTIA Network+, Fiber Optic Association (FOA) Certification, etc.) preferred.

  • 2+ years of experience in voice, data, and/or fiber optic installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

  • Hands-on experience with fiber optic splicing, termination, testing, and troubleshooting tools (e.g., OTDR, fusion splicer, etc.).

• Technical Skills:

  • In-depth understanding of voice, data, and fiber optic systems and networks.

  • Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, diagrams, and technical specifications.

  • Familiarity with network equipment, such as switches, routers, and communication hardware.

  • Knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, Ethernet, etc.) and fiber optic technologies.

• Soft Skills:

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.

  • Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

• Certifications (Preferred):

  • FOA (Fiber Optic Association) Certification

  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)

  • CompTIA Network+

  • Any additional relevant certifications in telecommunications or networking.

• Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs).

• Ability to work in various weather conditions and on job sites.

• Capability to work in confined spaces or at heights as required for specific installations.
