Reporting to the Lead Technical Specialist, Strategic Planning, the Geological Technician will support the Logging Geologists in the data collection and processing of diamond drill core.

Responsibilities include receiving and organizing the drill core, spectrally scanning, photographing core and processing imagery through machine learning platforms, completion of geotechnical logging, and assisting the Logging Geologist

In addition to the above responsibilities, the successful candidate must have strong problem solving, interpersonal, and communication skills and be a motivated self-starter, who can remain organized and prioritize contending demands in a fast-paced team environment. The successful candidate will also support various team members by assisting in the core shack, learning about porphyry Cu-Mo systems, and get exposure to geological modelling.

The typical work shift is Monday-Thursday, 10-hour shift allowing for a great work life balance. This position is part of an 18-month contract (benefits included) and may be extended.

Responsibilities:

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Assist the logging geologist in preparing the drill core for processing
  • Run a variety of technical equipment to scan and collect data on drill core
  • Completing geotechnical core logging
  • Assist in the shipping of samples
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • A certificate or diploma in Geology or a related field is required; a combination of education and relevant experience may also be considered.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Valid driver's license
  • Strong computer skills with experience in word and excel

Salary Range:$73000.0 - $90000.0

The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate's relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
