Job Summary

The Team
The North Shore Integrated Intake Team is a group of ten dedicated professionals, including Intake Protection Workers, a Specialist in intimate partner violence, Guardianship Workers, Out of Care Workers, a Social Program Officer Assistant, and the Team Leader. Together, they engage and support local children, youth, families, and Nations in West and North Vancouver and Bowen Island, through planning for child safety, well-being, and permanency. With a mix of new and long-term members, this established team has diversity in perspectives and skillsets, making it an exciting and rewarding group to lead.

The Role
The Team Leader, Child Protection supervises and provides clinical guidance to an engaged team and collaborates closely with other Ministry teams, community service providers, and Indigenous Nations. In this role you will make a positive community impact ensuring child safety, particularly in the areas of intimate partner violence and supporting children in long term care with safe permanency and support planning. Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements


Applicants may be considered who meet the preferred OR expanded credentials and experience requirements

1. Preferred Credentials:
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Social Work or in Child & Youth Care OR Master's Degree in Educational Counselling Psychology/Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology with completion of a practicum in family and child welfare OR
  • In-service Ministry of Children and Family Development employees who have a regular full working level SPO 24-30 base position that requires delegation under the Child, Family and Community Services Act (CFCSA) OR
  • A candidate may be considered equivalent when they are registered and a member in good standing with the BC College of Social Workers or has a letter from the College confirming that their application for registration has been approved.
    • NOTE: If this education was obtained outside of Canada, you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services ( ICES ). You must provide a comprehensive report and the MCFD supplemental report by the closing date of this posting to be considered.
  • At least 2 years of job-specific work experience.
  • Experience supervising staff.

2. Expanded Credentials:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a Human Services field OR Bachelor's Degree with a Major/Honors in a Human Services field OR Master's level graduate Certificate/Diploma in a Human Services field AFTER the completion of an unrelated Bachelor's Degree.
    • NOTE: If this education was obtained outside of Canada, you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services ( ICES ). You must provide a basic report by the closing date of this posting to be considered.
  • Minimum 1 year of related work experience and at least 2 years of job-specific work experience OR At least 3 years of job-specific work experience.
  • Experience supervising staff.

Human Services fields include: Psychology, Sociology, Criminology, Anthropology, Early Childhood Education, Indigenous Studies, Education, Theology or Nursing.

Additional Requirements:
  • Experience supervising staff in a child protection or family and child welfare role.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 BC Driver's License with no restriction or equivalent (i.e. from another Canadian Province).

Preference may be given to applicants with the following:
  • Preferred education credentials AND/OR in-service Ministry of Children and Family Development employees who hold a regular full working level SPO 24-30 base position that requires delegation under the Child, Family and Community Services Act (CFCSA)
  • Currently holds or is immediately eligible for full delegation (C6) under the Child, Family and Community Services Act (CFSCA).
  • Three (3) or more years of job specific experience in child protection.
  • Minimum three (3) months of experience supervising staff in a child protection or family and child welfare role, within the last two (2) years.
  • Applicants who self-identify as Indigenous (First Nations, Métis or Inuit) with the required combination of education and experience.

About this Position:

Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 1 day at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
