Job Description
Alexis Fiscal Advisory is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Regional Freight Specialist to join our logistics and supply chain team. The ideal candidate will manage and optimize the freight transportation operations across the assigned region, ensuring timely and cost-efficient delivery of goods and services. This role is pivotal in overseeing and coordinating the movement of freight, working closely with vendors, carriers, and internal teams to guarantee seamless logistics operations.

Key Responsibilities-
Freight Management:

Oversee the coordination and management of regional freight shipments, including domestic and international shipments when applicable.

Ensure the efficient and timely transportation of goods, monitoring delivery schedules, and tracking shipments from origin to destination.

Work closely with transportation vendors to optimize routes, reduce transit times, and negotiate favorable rates.

Vendor and Carrier Relations:

Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with freight carriers, third-party logistics providers (3PLs), and other transportation service providers.

Evaluate carrier performance and service quality to ensure that vendors are meeting contractual obligations and service expectations.

Negotiate freight contracts, terms, and rates with carriers to ensure competitive pricing and reliable services.

Cost Optimization and Budgeting:

Monitor freight expenses and identify opportunities for cost savings through route optimization, carrier negotiations, and effective planning.

Develop and maintain freight cost budgets for the region and track expenditures to ensure they align with established financial goals.

Prepare and submit regular freight reports, highlighting key performance metrics, cost savings, and opportunities for process improvements.

Logistics Coordination and Support:

Collaborate with internal teams, including inventory management, procurement, and operations, to ensure that shipments align with production schedules and customer demand.

Troubleshoot and resolve any transportation-related issues, including delays, damages, or discrepancies in shipments.

Coordinate with warehouse teams for proper packing, labeling, and documentation to ensure compliance with transportation regulations.

Compliance and Regulatory Adherence:

Ensure all freight operations comply with relevant local, state, and federal regulations, including those related to safety, environmental standards, and transportation laws.

Stay current on industry best practices and regulatory changes impacting freight and logistics operations.

Reporting and Documentation:

Maintain accurate records of freight shipments, invoices, and contracts.
-
Prepare and present regular reports on freight performance, including cost analysis, carrier performance, and any issues that need addressing.

Ensure all shipping documents (e.g., Bills of Lading, invoices, customs documentation) are accurate and complete.

Education and Experience:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field preferred.
-
3+ years of experience in freight management, logistics, or supply chain operations, with a focus on regional or national transportation.
-
Strong understanding of freight shipping processes, regulations, and industry best practices.
-

Technical Skills:
-
Proficiency in logistics management software, Transportation Management Systems (TMS), and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
-
Knowledge of shipping and freight documentation, including Bills of Lading, freight rates, and customs regulations.

Experience with route optimization software and techniques is a plus.

Strong negotiation skills, with the ability to engage and collaborate with vendors, carriers, and internal teams.

Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities, with a keen attention to detail.

Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact with stakeholders at all levels.

Problem-solving abilities to address transportation challenges and resolve issues efficiently.

Certifications (Preferred):
-
Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) or Certified in Logistics, Transportation, and Distribution (CLTD) is a plus.

Any additional relevant certifications in logistics, freight, or supply chain management.

Ability to occasionally travel to regional sites and meet with vendors, carriers, and other stakeholders.

Ability to work in a fast-paced office or field environment.
