BC Cancer - Prince George is a full-service cancer centre that serves 1100+ new patients annually, and offers a full range of services in Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Palliative Care and support services such as nutrition, clinical trials, and patient and family counseling. We are proud to host an in-house Research and Clinical Trials Unit, which conducts national and international level radiation trials. We work closely with our the University Hospital of Northern BC, a tertiary hospital within Northern Health, and with the UBC Northern Medical Program that offers excellent opportunities for teaching.

We are looking for a Medical Oncologist to be a part of our collaborative team. Our successful applicant will use their extensive experience and qualifications to provide oncology consultation, patient care, teaching, and research while working with a team of specialized medical oncologists at the centre, participating exclusively in the care of oncology patients.

Applicants must be eligible for licensure in British Columbia and must have obtained their Fellowship in Internal Medicine, along with a certificate of Special Competence in Medical Oncology from the RCPSC (or hold an equivalent qualification) by the time of appointment. The successful applicant will receive a clinical appointment with the Division of Medical Oncology in the Department of Medicine at the University of British Columbia, and will have privileges through both the Provincial Health Services Authority and our partner health authority, Northern Health, at the University Hospital of Northern British Columbia. Canadian Immigration regulations accord preference to Canadian citizens and landed immigrants.

BC Cancer is proud to offer a moving expense allowance, and our Prince George centre is supported by the Rural Retention Program which offers several other annual benefits (conditions may apply):
  • Rural Premiums - 12.6% (~$54,000) + flat fee (~$19,000)
  • Rural Recruitment Incentive Fund - $15,000
  • Rural CME funding:
    • $600 - Year 1 & 2
    • $3,600 - Year 3 & 4
    • $6,600 - Year 5+

Loan forgiveness options may also apply.

Successful candidates will also have:
  • Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC (2015) and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019).
  • Knowledge of social, economic, political and historical realities impacting indigenous communities and familiarity with Indigenous Cultural Safety and anti-racism and accompanying reports (BC DRIPA, TRC, etc.).
