Reporting to the Director, Strategy, Planning and Performance, the Manager, Technology Portfolio & PMO (Project Management Office), is responsible to ensure our technology portfolio is aligned with strategic objectives and projects deliver maximum value.

It is a highly visible andstrategic leadership position, that collaborates with senior leaders to continually optimize a combined +$50M/yr IT/OT technology portfolio considering factors such as cost, resourcing and risk. They ensure the portfolio delivers on its strategic objectives, by maintaining standards for project and program management, monitoring execution, while also coordinating projects across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental policies and procedures as well as provide visible leadership to other areas aligned to Teck's core values such as Equity, Diversity and Inclusion.
  • Overall accountability for delivery of the technology portfolio as measured by strategic alignment, investment efficiency, benefits realization, resource utilization, process adherence and project performance.
  • Foster and maintain positive relationships with technology senior leaders, business partners and key stakeholders to ensure portfolio is aligned with organizational goals.
  • Optimize the technology portfolio, coordinating project portfolio management, resource allocation and project prioritization.
  • Lead key planning and investment processes, such as 5-year planning, capital allocation and investment committees.
  • Govern project execution by maintaining and continuously improving project management standards, templates, processes and provide training to build capability.
  • Ensure delivery by monitoring project status, key performance indicators, such as schedule, budget and risk[CG2] (#_msocom_2) , facilitating any major decision making or issue resolution. Where required, implement risk mitigation strategies and ensure contingency plans are in place.
  • Communicate and report portfolio performance to senior stakeholders.
  • Ensure effective communication between project teams and stakeholders.
  • Identify areas for process optimization and efficiency gains, implementing continuous improvement initiatives across the PMO.
  • Lead and manage a large ~30 distributed team of internal and external project professionals, creating a psychological safe environment, fostering growth and career development.
  • Financial management including coordination of $50M+ budgets and forecasts.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in project management in a large complex corporate environment, including 3+ years in a leadership role
  • Practical experience planning and leading a cross functional technology project portfolio greater than $20M/yr
  • Broad understanding of the business of mining, ideally with3+ years in mining or related industrial domain
  • PMP, PgMP certification and PMI Agile Certified Practitioner preferred
  • Proficiency in project management tools such as MS Project, DevOps
  • Proficient Spanish, both written and spoken, is considered an asset
  • Strong financial management including project portfolio budget, forecast and reporting
  • Setting up and maintaining the PMO, including the development of standards, policies, and methodologies for project management. Identifying and managing risks across the project portfolio
  • Implementing risk mitigation strategies and ensuring contingency plans are in place
  • Ensuring effective communication between project teams and management
  • Facilitating engagement and managing expectations

Salary Range: $144,000 - $178,000

The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate's relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
