Quesnel Sawmills, a division of West Fraser, is currently seeking a highly motivated individual
for the opportunity of:

Maintenance Superintendent

Reporting directly to the Sawmill Superintendent & be a key member of the leadership team, the successful candidate will lead a maintenance department which includes maintenance supervisor’s (both SM & PL), reliability coordinator, maintenance planner & all trades (Millwrights, Welders, & Electricians) for the Quesnel Sawmill division. Higher consideration will be granted to those who have previous experience in the wood remanufacturing sector; in an OSB, plywood, Sawmill, Planer Mill or with forest products.

You'll Do:
  • Certified Tradesperson, preference will be given to Red Seal Millwright or electrician
  • Prefer 5-10 years of maintenance supervisory experience

  • Strong leadership skills and communication skills
  • Commitment to safety
  • Proficient in Microsoft, Maximo, Dynastar, & oracle
  • Well-organized and able to work in a group as a team player, & leader

You'll Have:
  • Supervising Maintenance supervisors, reliability coordinator, & maintenance planner
    Maintenance of Sawmill & Planer processing equipment
  • Safety of the crew supporting supervisors in Lockout Procedures, Field Level Hazard & Risk Assessments (FLHRA), & Safety Audits
  • Ensuring Training / mentoring apprentices is consistent
  • Supporting and driving reliability & maintenance planning to increase uptime
  • Working with maintenance team to resolve issues and guide reliability to true root cause
    analysis
  • Creating and planning improvement projects (capital & noncapital assignments)
  • Ensure AON, dust & oil mitigation expectations are met & any action plans are being
    followed & executed
  • Cost Reduction & budgeting
  • Manage all KPI’s for the site
  • Build and execute on budget
  • Maximizing product quality and recovery
  • Ensuring supervisors are managing parts with our purchaser for both sawmill & planer
  • Developing a predictive and preventative maintenance program
  • Scheduling and attendance
  • Teaching, educating supervisors and lead hands on expectations of their role, & new
    leaders of the future (PDP, Gap analysis, culture, DE&I, etc)
  • Work in conjunction with the planer superintendent around all aspects of the energy plant


Compensation Package:
  • The salary range for this position may vary depending on experience, education, and location. The yearly salary range is between $120,491-$141,600
  • Annual bonus opportunity
