The Opportunity:
Lead design technologist to join our Conveyance Department located in Vancouver, British Columbia. Reporting to the Multi-disciplinary Team Lead of the Conveyance Team, this position will be responsible for training and leading a talented, technically-focused design team in the execution of multi-disciplinary water engineering projects. The Lead design technologist will assist senior process, mechanical, and electrical engineers in the design and coordination of deliverables for multi-disciplinary projects (pump stations, reservoirs, hydraulic control structures, water treatment plants and wastewater treatment plants) and working alongside the WSP's project management team to bring projects from conceptual design through to detailed design and construction.

The salary range (in British Columbia): $96,200 - $132,200.

What you can expect to do here:
- Assist in leading a multi-disciplinary design team, oversee project deliverables, and assist senior engineers in coordinating complex projects to ensure seamless integration and effective solutions ;
- Develop innovative conceptual designs for pump stations, reservoirs, hydraulic control structures, water and wastewater treatment plants, ensuring functionality and system compatibility across disciplines ;
- Collaborate within the larger team to create accurate Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams to fully reflect the process design, equipment selection, control philosophy and redundancy strategies for projects;
- Train new employees and EITs in software packages, create instructional materials and workshops, and foster a supportive learning environment to build confidence and competence in essential tools;
- Design, develop, and test workflow philosophies tailored to the company's needs, collaborate for feedback, ensure compliance with standards, and refine systems for efficiency ;
- Undertake quality control on completed work and evaluate drawings and vendor equipment documentation within the discipline and across other disciplines, to ensure alignment with the project design and specifications;
- Contribute to the cost-effective and timely production of engineering designs that meet all client and approval agency requirements, and design standards.
What you'll bring to WSP:
- Civil/Mechanical Engineering degree or diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution;
- Minimum of 8 years of multi-disciplinary engineering design and coordination experience on water treatment plants, wastewater treatment plants and pump stations;
- Registered with ASTTBC as AScT and eligible to register with EGBC as P.Eng/P.L.Eng;
- Demonstrated ability to work with Plant 3D, Civil 3D, Navisworks, Infraworks, Revit, SolidWorks, Inventor and BIM 360 is essential for this position;
- Previous experience in training early career professionals in the use of with Plant 3D and Revit or SolidWorks is essential for this position;
- Working knowledge of water treatment plant and wastewater treatment plant engineering principles and design standards;
- Proficient with MS Office programs (Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams, etc). Working knowledge of SharePoint is an asset;
- Exposure to the mining, oil and gas and public sectors will be considered a valuable asset;
- Knowledge of contract administration in the MMCD/CCDC suites will be considered a valuable asset.
