6-month contract Java developer role with an enterprise organization investing majorly into technology.

What & Why:
As a result of new projects our client is looking to add a contract Java developer to their growing team. You will be expanding back-end functionality globally for a global retail giant. You should have solid experience developing enterprise solutions in Java as well as experience with Kafka or another streaming service. You will ensure applications are designed to be highly available, observable, and durable via software engineering best practices. This team has large scale growth plans for 2025, so it’s a great time to join.

They have invested majorly in technology and have had an incredibly successful past few years, including a major strategic acquisition. They have an all-star leadership team who keeps you accountable and provides support while still affording you tremendous autonomy. They are located close to rapid transit in newly renovated offices in downtown Vancouver and have a hybrid work environment, 3 days a week in office.

You:
You will bring the following education, skills and experience to the role:

Minimum 8 years of progressively responsible, post-baccalaureate work experience designing, developing, and implementing computer software projects in a web services-based environment utilizing open-source services framework
Minimum 8 years’ experience in OO design patterns and coding best practices - mainly in Java development
Experience must include programming APIs adhering to microservices architecture; Java/J2EE; Hibernate; Spring boot technologies; Spring MVC, Spring Kafka, JSP; AJAX; JavaScript; XML and XML parsers; SOAP/REST web services
Experience must include working knowledge of Kafka or any of the event streaming technology
Develops code, techniques and processes that interfaces with middleware, including: ETL, ESB, Web Services, SOAP, and XML

Compensation: this role pays between $70-80 per hour.
