Our Regions East SR&ED (Scientific Research & Experimental Development) group, a multidisciplinary team of engineers, accountants and tax specialists, is looking to add an individual with a solid software development background that has a desire to be exposed to new and exciting technologies and state-of-the art innovations in a wide range of industries. In this role you will assist our clients in identifying eligible SR&ED activities and describe these activities in a technical report. We will provide you with specialized training on Canada's SR&ED Tax Incentive Program which encourages businesses operating in Canada to develop new products or processes or improve existing ones in the field of science or technology. Incentives are provided through investment tax credits (ITC) delivered via the corporate income tax system.

What you will do
- Attend meetings with CTOs, Chief Architects, and Software Developers to identify eligible projects.
- Gather detailed information required for SR&ED filings with the CRA.
- Discuss methods, algorithms and constructs that push the boundaries of current software engineering knowledge.
- Identify qualifying software development and engineering activities for the SR&ED program.
- Prepare technical summaries that articulating how these activities contribute to the advancement of technology and computer science principles
- Provide input to or assist in the preparation of costing schedules for SR&ED tax credit claims.
- Participate in CRA review meetings to support submitted claims.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering required; Masters or Ph.D. may be advantageous
- Work experience in a technical role is highly recommended to bring an understanding of the complexities inherent to real-world product/process development
- Product or process management type roles acceptable if you contributed in a technical manner
- Microsoft 365 (Office) Applications - Strong Excel, Working Knowledge of Outlook, Teams, Word, PowerPoint
- Awareness of Jira, Confluence, Github or other SDLC tools an asset
- Familiarity with prompt engineering concepts may be helpful
- Strong background in software, computer science or related fields (i.e. mechatronics)
- Ability to connect with people and communicate effectively
- Self-motivated and driven to succeed
- Strong understanding or passion for technology
- Passion for learning and delivering value to clients
- Desire to learn about business and financial systems used by organizations
- Excellent planning and task management skills for multiple projects
- Ability to achieve delivery milestones with quality and within timelines
