Our Regions East SR&ED (Scientific Research & Experimental Development) group, a multidisciplinary team of engineers, accountants and tax specialists, is looking to add an individual with a solid engineering background that has a desire to be exposed to new state-of-the art innovations in a wide range of industries. In this role you will assist our clients in identifying eligible SR&ED activities and describe these activities in a technical report. We will provide you with specialized training on Canada's SR&ED Tax Incentive Program which encourages businesses operating in Canada to develop new products or processes or improve existing ones in the field of science or technology. Incentives are provided through investment tax credits (ITC) delivered via the corporate income tax system.

What you will do
  • Keep up-to-date with innovative technologies and trends in the world of science and engineering
  • Develop a good understanding of Federal and Provincial innovation incentives programs such as the Scientific Research and Experimental Development program (SR&ED)
  • Examine our clients' technologies, products and operations to determine which R&D activities qualify for government incentives
  • Effectively summarize our clients' development activities utilizing written reports
  • Planning, organizing and executing engagements on time and within budget
What you bring to the role
  • A university degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Structural or similar discipline are preferred)
  • Minimum 2 years Engineering work experience
  • Superior communication skills, both written and verbal, are a must.
  • Experience with the SR&ED program and other funding programs is preferred but not required
  • Ability to create and maintain effective relationships with co-workers, management and clients
  • A desire for self-improvement through continuous learning
  • Desire to learn about business and financial systems used by organizations
  • Excellent planning and task management skills for multiple projects
  • Ability to achieve delivery milestones with quality and within timelines
  • Work experience in a technical role is highly recommended to bring an understanding of the complexities inherent to real-world product/process development
