Based in the Vancouver head office, the successful candidate will be responsible for all executive support and assistance to the Executive Vice President & Chief Commercial Officer and general administrative support as required for the Commercial function.
The successful candidate will be a driven, resourceful, hard-working team player that can successfully communicate and work across internal teams and external partners. We require someone with the ability to multitask, stay organized, and adjust to changing priorities in a dynamic globally connected environment. Someone who is enthusiastic, has effective problem-solving skills, and is detail oriented, with a dedication for continuous improvement will be ideal. The role requires a high level of professionalism and integrity, the ability to know your audience and interact with Teck's customers and service providers; thus, communication and interpersonal skills are crucial.

The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate's relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.

Responsibilities:
- Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
- Manages the Executive's calendar by determining priorities and urgent situations, scheduling meetings and making changes and adjustments as required.
- Organizes complex domestic and international travel arrangements, prepares detailed travel itineraries and management of check-ins, as well as all flight, hotel, and car service bookings in advance of travel.
- Identifies emerging issues, determines their urgency/priority, and compiles background information for timely and appropriate decisions and/or action.
- Supports the Executive in managing email and maintains a priority list of to do and follow up actions.
- Prepares and drafts letters, reports and PowerPoint presentations.
- Supports achievement of strategic goals and objectives through forward planning and time management.
- Provides support, planning and liaison for customer, international office and site visits.
- Completes and processes expense reports.
- Compiles and submits timesheets for the department, as the need arises. Fluidly adapts to changing environments and requirements (i.e. sudden meeting changes or travel requirements).
- Maintains strict confidentiality with sensitive information, financial documents and personal matters.
- Provides occasional administrative support to the Commercial team as required.
- Provides personal support to the Executive as required.
- Willing to be available after normal working hours and on the weekend for emergencies.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of five years of experience in a senior support role in a fast-paced work environment with complex organization structure.
- Post-secondary training in an administrative program is an asset.
- Highly proactive in leading key accountabilities, i.e. anticipates and resolves potential calendar conflicts
- High level of proficiency with core Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, Adobe Pro, SharePoint and MS Teams.
- Excellent English language skills (written and verbal). The ability to speak, read and/or write Spanish would be an asset.
- Advanced professional interpersonal skills and ability to interact with various executive levels internally and externally. Manage high value client interactions and relations.
- Ability to think critically, solve problems and make decisions independently under tight deadlines.
- Highly service-oriented individual with the ability to demonstrate tact, discretion, confidentiality, diplomacy, high energy, trustworthiness and sense of humor.
- Conscientious self-starter who enjoys working in a team environment, needs minimal supervision and can prioritize workload under pressure.
- Strong organization skills and attention to detail.
