The Director of Facilities and Capital Projects is responsible and accountable for leading the Facilities and Capital teams including all activities related to Housing, Community Infrastructure, Energy, Emergency Management, Equipment and Facilities. Located on our team in Cranbrook, BC, you will be responsible for Managing projects including the contracts, progress and quality monitoring and the overall valuation and monitoring of the department resources in alignment with ʔaq̓am strategic plan. Day to day responsibilities include, but are not limited to, policy development and administration, human resource management, management of formal plans, strategies, goals, programs and services, administration of funding agreements and contracts.
Your key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Oversees the day-to-day activities of the Facilities and Capital Projects Team including leading and supporting the direction of a team of professionals
- Manages financial affairs of department including annual budgeting and monitoring
- Acts as department liaison with Council, staff, contractors, government departments, private sector and other First Nation organizations
- Supports and manages employee's day to day activities; distributing tasks and responsibilities based on urgency, resources required and community requests
- Manages the community's assets and infrastructure utilizing best practices to ensure alignment with ʔaq̓am Values, Mission and Vision while also overseeing community capital projects

More About YouThe successful candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in Management or Business Administration or other relevant field and will have at least 5 years’ experience in a similar senior level role, supporting capital strategic projects and managing operations and infrastructure. Project management experience, grant writing and contract administration are required. A demonstrated knowledge of Ktunaxa/Indigenous people and Ktunaxa/Indigenous culture would be an asset. We are seeking a strategic, analytical thinker with a Community focused approach who will take the initiative to prioritize multiple projects with a high degree of ethics, confidentiality and integrity. You must have a clear Criminal Record and provide proof of such, as well as provision of a clean driver’s abstract and a Valid Class 5 license.
Salary will commensurate with experience from a range ($111,671 - 148,121) and includes a favorable benefits package and pension plan.
Preference will be given to candidates of Ktunaxa or other Indigenous ancestry and ʔaq̓am encourages applicants to self-identify within your application.
