Overview

Our Stakeholder, Community, and Indigenous Relations team (SCIR) has an exciting new opportunity for a Community Relations & Events Advisor to join their growing team. You'll be responsible for supporting WorkSafeBC through the development and implementation of effective community relations and event strategies to support the organization in promoting workplace health and safety across B.C.

In this role, you'll help develop and implement key strategic plans related to community relations, sponsorships, and WorkSafeBC-related events. As a valued member of the SCIR team, you'll be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with external stakeholders across employer, labour, and industry. You will leverage those relationships to uncover opportunities for WorkSafeBC to engage meaningfully in the communities we serve.

Where you'll work

At WorkSafeBC, we offer a hybrid work model that combines working remotely, and in our offices based on the operational needs of the position.

What you'll do
  • Conduct research and analyses to identify and clarify stakeholder and community event needs
  • Identify opportunities to support the Stakeholder, Community, and Indigenous Relations business plan by working with Stakeholder Experience, Marketing, and Communications (SEMC) staff to leverage multiple channels including web, social media, new media, video, print, and event planning and delivery
  • Ensure that the community and stakeholder engagement event experience delivered is consistent and targeted to meet the unique needs of WorkSafeBC's many stakeholder groups, organizations, and Indigenous communities
  • Provide consultation and advice to internal partners on event strategies, presentations, design, and evaluation
  • Support the Community Sponsorship and Investment program by researching and engaging with external organizations and event organizers

Is this a good fit for you?

We're looking for someone who can:
  • Prepare and present information regarding community engagement and event matters to all sizes of audiences throughout WorkSafeBC
  • Collaborate with internal partners, sponsors, and external stakeholders to support the organization's presence and positive reputation at events
  • Build and strengthen trusting relationships with stakeholders, clients, suppliers, and vendors, to respond to requests and develop creative solutions, while using tact to handle contentious situations
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with senior management and other internal stakeholders throughout the organization
  • Proactively seek out information in order to plan and organize work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment with competing priorities and shifting deadlines
  • Arrange equipment, facilities, and other logistics for events, meetings, and engagement sessions

Your background and experience
  • A degree in Marketing, Communications or related subject
  • A minimum of six years of experience in the field of stakeholder relationship management, event coordination, and/or communications and public relations
  • A valid B.C. driver's license and the ability to travel throughout the province is required

We'll consider equivalent combinations of education and experience.

Salary: $41.56 - $ 48.47/hourly
