Hybrid Work Model

This position is located in our Victoria, BC office. You will have the opportunity to work part of the time on-campus and part of the time off-campus. Guidelines and requirements for in-office presence are determined by operational need and vary according to the unique needs of each business area.

The opportunity

We are seeking an IT Cloud Infrastructure Specialist to join our team in VICTORIA, British Columbia, Canada.

The IT Cloud Infrastructure Specialist works closely with the Hybrid Infrastructure team and other key functions across the organization to design, deploy and manage the operations of cloud infrastructure with focus on continuous improvement, high availability, security and latest innovations. This is a technical leadership role, accountable for both hands-on technical work and as well as providing formal supervision and technical coaching and mentorship to the team. As a cloud infrastructure specialist this position will be involved in the Corporation's transformation from traditional on-premise solutions to deployments to cloud infrastructure with a focus on Microsoft Azure and Oracle OCI technologies. The IT Cloud Infrastructure Specialist will play a key part in projects underway as well as sustainment and improvements of the deployed technologies once implemented.

What do you need to succeed?

Must have
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Technology, Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems and/or an equivalent experience in a related field.
  • Three or more years of experience in planning, designing, and managing Azure/OCI cloud infrastructure including, but not limited to virtual servers, virtual desktops, storage, networking and connectivity services (e.g., subnetting, route tables, security groups, virtual networking, VPN, transit gateways, optimizing for egress costs), identity and access management, IAC, endpoint manager, and other cloud services and resources.
  • Five or more years of experience in designing, implementing, and managing traditional infrastructure solutions in a combined Windows and Unix /Linux environment (e.g. servers - Windows Servers, SLQ, etc.), applications, including scripting; including upgrades and change planning and management (e.g. process improvement, technical documentation, and coordination of changes, upgrades/transformation projects).

Nice to have

Preference may be given to candidates with the following experience:
  • Cloud spending, billing and optimization
  • Implementing resilience (ie. Multi zonal and regional backup and recovery tools)
  • Cloud provider frameworks (ie. Well-Architected)
  • Cloud provider certifications
  • Working with a variety of vendors and third parties
  • People management and supervisory experience
