The Team
The Workers' Advisers Office is independent of WorkSafeBC (Workers' Compensation Board) and is established by Section 350 of the Workers' Compensation Act (WCA) to provide advice, assistance and representation to injured workers and their dependents with workers' claims. Our team of Workers' Advisers, come from diverse backgrounds in law, social work, and advocacy, are dedicated to guiding and representing workers through the intricacies of the workers' compensation system. We thrive on teamwork, and are committed to fostering an inclusive environment where professional growth and development are paramount.
The Role
As a Workers' Adviser, you manage a large number of complex files while providing excellent service to clients in a responsive, professional manner. You offer expert, independent advice on interpreting the Workers Compensation Act, its regulations, and policies. Your role involves conducting research, gathering evidence, and delivering clear, sound advice, along with timely submissions and representations at appeals.

This position can be based out of any of the locations listed above.
One (1) permanent position and one (1) temporary position are available.
The temporary opportunity is until August 30, 2025. This position may be extended or become permanent.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work a few days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.
A Criminal Record Check (CRC) will be required.
Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
This position is excluded from union membership.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- University degree in a related discipline.
- An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
- One (1) or more years of experience in the following:
- Providing advice to clients regarding the interpretation and application of legislation, regulation, policies and procedures;
- Effectively managing a high volume, demanding, active caseload; and
- Effectively managing clients in crisis (i.e., angry, distraught, suicidal).
- One (1) or more years of relevant work experience in one or a combination of:
- Investigation/case manager of public administration issues;
- Adjudicator in a court, tribunal or board setting;
- And/or Client representative before courts, tribunals or boards.
