Job Summary
The Team
At the Ministry of Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation (MIRR), the Strategic Planning and Corporate Initiatives (SPCI) team, which is part of the Deputy Minister's office, is a dynamic group shaping and supporting major corporate initiatives and integrated corporate planning. This small but mighty team is comprised of 7 to 8 members and is known for its collaborative and innovative spirit. The SPCI team is responsible for strategic planning at MIRR and works closely with teams throughout the ministry to foster an inclusive and supportive work environment.
The Role
As the Manager of Corporate Communications, reporting to the Director of Strategic Planning and Corporate Initiatives, you'll lead a small team of dedicated professionals to craft and deliver thoughtful, impactful internal communications strategies within the ministry. You'll be a go-to resource for information and guidance on communication and engagement, collaborating with executive leaders, senior management and cross-functional teams.

About this Position:

There is currently a temporary opportunity available for seven (7) months, this temporary opportunity may become permanent.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 3 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.

This position is excluded from union membership.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or higher in communications, journalism, public relations, media relations, marketing or other relevant discipline and a minimum of three (3) years related experience; OR
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Related experience must include:
- Minimum of one year's experience leading, developing and empowering a team.
- Experience developing and implementing communications plans and tactics for a diverse audience.
- Experience providing communications advice and expertise to the senior leadership of an organization.
- Experience establishing and maintaining working relationships with a diverse group of internal and external partners.
Preference may be given for:
- Experience working with Indigenous organizations and/or communities.
- Candidates who self-identify as Indigenous.
- Experience working in a public relations, corporate communications or media relations environment.
- Experience with planning and executing events for large groups.
