The BC Liquor Distribution Branch (LDB) is one of two branches of government that provide oversight for the beverage alcohol and non-medical cannabis industries in the province. About this role:

The Advisor overseas the execution of employee leave, benefits and WSBC payment administration. This role provides guidance to the team in resolution of leave and benefit administration policies and provides direction and guidance in resolving complex WSBC claims administration and reconciliation. The position monitors the performance and accuracy of the biweekly compensation in collaboration with the payroll service provider. The Advisor is responsible for the monitoring of performance measures through the monthly reporting of key performance indicators (KPIs) and performance metrics. The position plays a critical role in fostering and maintaining the operational relationship between LDB and the payroll service provider through the touch point meetings.

The Advisor provides guidance and support to the Coordinator Leaves, to provide direction and decisions regarding employee's leave management (retirements, maternity/parental leave, requests for general leaves). The position provides guidance and direction to the Coordinator WSBC Payments in resolution of complex WSBC claims reconciliation and outstanding monies owing.

A criminal record check is required. Successful candidates may be required to work outside regular business hours to meet deadlines, as required.

Position requirements:

Education and Experience:
  • Secondary (high school) diploma or equivalent certificate and a minimum of two (2) years working in a human resources/payroll environment with an emphasis on administering payroll functions.

*Recent, related work experience must have occurred in the last five (5) years and must include the following:
  • Experience with reading, interpreting and applying documented information and providing payroll advice and guidance to clients on standard interpretations of policies and procedures.
  • Experience working with a Human Resource Management System, e.g., PeopleSoft.

*Preference may be given to candidates with any of the following experience:
  • Diploma or certificate or formal course work pertaining to Payroll and/or Human Resources Management or Business Administration.
  • Experience supervising staff.
