Accountant

Great opportunity for an Accountant available immediately to join a very successful and well-established international company in an exciting industry.

This is a 6-week contract to fill in for someone currently on leave, possible extension.

Who- the Company:

Our client, an industry leader offers an inspiring and dynamic work environment focused on teamwork, commitment and leadership.

What- the Role:

The Accountant is responsible for overseeing complete journal entries and general accounting-related tasks for the month-end close activities for our client.

Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions such as, but not limited to reporting, account coding and reviewing payables, and calculations for entries.
Review and post AP batch transactions, manage cash balances and process bank payments.
Prepare and enter journal entries including system downloads into the accounting system to meet month-end accounting requirements.
Provide month-end reconciliations to the GL and prepare weekly and/or monthly reports and statements.
Assist with global reporting requirements and support on internal & external audits.
Positively drive agreed initiatives, propose new initiatives and adopt a sense of continuous improvement.

Who- the Candidate:

A degree in Finance or Accounting and preferably enrolled in obtaining your CPA designation.
A minimum of 2 years’ experience in the industry.
Experience with Oracle and Maximo systems are an asset.
Highly organized with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage timelines.
Exceptional computer skills and ability to quickly learn new software.
A willingness to take initiative to solve problems and a desire to identify process improvements.
Strong attention to detail.
Ability to communicate clear and concise information with all departments and levels in an accurate and informative manner.
Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively with your team and other departments.

How Much:

$34.50 - $35.50 + 4% vacation pay.

Where:

Burnaby, 5 days’ onsite, along Skytrain line.
