Job Summary

The Team
The Mountain Resorts Branch is a small, passionate team which supports the development and operation of all-seasons and community ski resorts across British Columbia, contributing significantly to provincial tourism, recreation and the economy. With a team of 25, the Branch manages Resort Master Plan review processes and administration of long-term agreements with resort operators to ensure sustainable and safe operations and development. It coordinates with various stakeholders, First Nations, and government agencies to integrate diverse interests and uphold reconciliation principles. Overseeing 37 resorts and ski areas, the Branch also reviews and authorizes new developments and expansions on Crown land and manages land and forest resources with Controlled Recreation Areas.

The Role
As the Resource Information Specialist (RIS), you will play a key role in supporting BC's Mountain Resort Branch and our clients by providing front line service and technical support for Leases, Licenses, Rights of Way (RW), and Statutory Right of Way (SRW) applications, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation, regulations, and tenure requirements. Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in natural resource management or a related field, or a Technical Diploma in a related field and one (1) year *related experience.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.


*Related experience must include:
  • Experience in analyzing and interpreting information in order to draw conclusions and make recommendations.
  • Experience integrating data/information from a variety of sources to produce accurate results.
  • Experience using complex computer programs, spatial mapping applications and other standard office equipment and software packages.


Preference may be given to candidates with:
  • Experience working with Crown land systems and databases such the Crown Land Registry (Tantalis and GATOR), Integrated Land and Resource Registry (ILRR), BC Online, Land Title Office (MyLTSA), Authorization Tracking System (ATS) and the Electronic Data and Records Management System (EDRMS)
  • Experience working with resource-based legislation, regulations, policies including relevant provincial Acts that include the Land Act, Water Act, Forest Act, Highways Acts, Mines Act and the Land Title Act

Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work from home two (2) days a week subject to an approved telework agreement.
