Reporting to the Decision Support Consultant, Information Integration, the Data Integration Specialist provides integrated healthcare data analysis and interpretation to senior leadership, agency committees, departments and external consultants. This role is responsible for opportunity identification, business requirements analysis, design and development of data marts and business intelligence solutions and extension of the Enterprise Data Warehouse. The Data Integration Specialist provides assistance to Performance Measurement & Reporting staff and to data/information creators in other departments with data quality, data manipulation and reporting, data integration (ETL), and data conversion.

Job Type: Regular, Full-Time
Salary Range: $74,618 - $107,264 /year. The starting salary for this position would be determined with consideration of the successful candidate's relevant education and experience, and would be in alignment with the provincial compensation reference plan. Salary will be prorated accordingly for part time roles.

Decision Support Services

Reporting to the Decision Support Consultant, Information Integration, the Data Integration Specialist provides integrated healthcare data analysis and interpretation to senior leadership, agency committees, departments and external consultants. The Data Integration Specialist provides assistance to Performance Measurement & Reporting staff and to data/information creators in other departments with data quality, data manipulation and reporting, data integration (ETL), and data conversion.
What you'll do
- Supports Performance Measurement and Reporting services in the development and distribution of healthcare data via business intelligence tools. Serves as a technical expert to program managers, physicians and the executive on accessing patient specific data and provides orientation to the tool as required for staff and clients.
- Develops data warehousing infrastructure to enable distribution of complex reports in a more robust way.
- Participates in the development, definition and reporting of patient specific data based performance indicators as related to agency operations, access and throughput, for use at the program director and executive level. Liaises on behalf of the agency with external consultants on the provisioning of patient specific data, as well as providing education on analysis and interpretation.
- Performs database administration tasks including database creation, database tuning, security administration, file management and data replication.
- Performs data administration tasks including the maintenance and integrity of patient specific data infrastructure, modelling the conceptual, logical and physical data architecture, creating value added data elements, and reporting of complex integrated information. Leads the identification of new data sources and implements data extraction routines from departmental feeder systems. Provides advice and direction on patient specific data availability and quality. Consults and problem-solves with feeder departments regarding periodic downloads.
- Oversees routine processing activities within the Performance Measurement and Reporting department related to key decision support applications. Develops and executes detailed, complex database scripts with regard to extraction, transformation, loading and analysis of patient specific data.
- Represents Performance Measurement and Reporting on committees at various levels with regard to data standards, appropriate usage, availability and quality.
What you bring
Qualifications
- A level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Health Information Science/Management from a recognized school plus a minimum of three (3) to five (5) years recent related work experience.
- Ability to apply in-depth subject matter knowledge in a healthcare, science or business discipline to the design of a business intelligence solution. Superior analytical and problem solving skills including the ability to comprehend complex large scale health care environment operational issues and related data/information and present information in concise meaningful ways. Ability to understand and explain complicated technical issues in non-technical terms.
- Advanced knowledge, and experience in application of best practices of data standards, database design, data architecture and modeling. Expertise in developing ETL solutions using SQL Server Integration Services (2008). Superior database querying skills using Structured Query Language -preferably T-SQL. Understanding of report writing tools such as Crystal Reports and SQL Server Reporting Services. Ability and experience in developing technical documentation. Customer focused with ability to facilitate and encourage cooperation between professionals from other disciplines. Ability to educate and lead management staff on the importance of using high quality data for decision making, via business intelligence tools and other means. Demonstrated administrative, organizational, work planning and control skills. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to work under pressure and multi-task with little direct supervision. Persistence and a positive attitude are essential given the iterative development cycle and sometimes problematic data integration issues.
