The Opportunity:
WSP continues to grow our Rail & Transit team across Canada. We have an opportunity for a business development specialist to enable the growth of our Western Canada practice. They will be responsible for identifying new leads, developing client and partner connections, pre-positioning for target opportunities, directing bidding and proposals, leading client account(s), promoting the WSP brand, representing WSP at industry events, and nurturing client relationships. While the role falls within WSP's Transportation & Infrastructure sector, it will also bridge across sectors, with a particular focus on collaborative cross-selling the services of our Property & Buildings, Earth & Environment, and Energy Resource and Industry colleagues.

Salary range (in British Columbia): Starting at $179,250

Your Impact
- Drive Business Development and Business Intelligence: Identify and evaluate new leads, build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and clients, and drive the growth of the Rail & Transit business.
- Promote the WSP brand: Interact with clients, represent WSP at conferences, sector gatherings, and lead client-centric marketing initiatives.
- Oversee Bids: Lead bid teams for important projects, form bid teams, and guide proposal preparation (storyboarding, graphic design, team composition/organization, pricing strategy, sub-consultant selection).
- Key Pursuits: Identify and track target opportunities. Develop and execute capture plans, form teams with partners and subconsultants, pre-position with clients and the industry.
- Account Leadership: Lead one or more key accounts (includes TransLink). Develop account plan(s) with a tailored growth strategy, client engagement plan, client-specific KPIs, required investments, and opportunity tracking.
- Strategic Planning and Execution: Collaborate with other WSP leaders to develop and implement strategies to achieve business objectives, leverage our Rail & Transit leadership position in the market and deliver comprehensive and sustainable transportation solutions.
- Collaborate across Regions, sectors and subsectors by working closely with engineers, architects, scientists, planners, and other specialists from various disciplines to deliver integrated and innovative transportation solutions.
- People: Advise on hiring to meet client needs, win work, fill gaps in capability or capacity, and achieve growth. Leverage work-sharing with WSP offices around the world.
- KPIs: Wins, bookings, net revenue, cross-sold revenue, and net margin.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- 15+ years' experience in planning / engineering / design.
- 10+ years experience bidding and winning consulting engineering projects.
- Deep knowledge of Rail & Transit consulting market with proven client relationships in Western Canada, specifically including TransLink.
- Strong people skills and the ability to develop new relationships with clients and partners.
- Demonstrated business development experience.
- Experience in client prepositioning activities, team (internal and external partners) and proposal development, and execution of selection interviews.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional designation or certification.
- Demonstrated experience increasing market share in the Transit/Rail sector, including the strategic growth areas of rail transit, bus transit, and freight rail.
- A recognized Western Canadian leader in transit / transportation.
- Account management experience.
- Strategic planning experience.
- Experience bidding and delivering using global resources.
