About the BCLDB:

The BC Liquor Distribution Branch (LDB) is one of two branches of government that provide oversight for the beverage alcohol and non-medical cannabis industries in the province. The LDB is responsible for the wholesale distribution of liquor and cannabis and operates the retails brands BCLIQUOR and BC Cannabis Stores.

The LDB is committed to government's goals of making life better for people in B.C., improving services, and ensuring a sustainable province for future generations. The LDB has been assigned to distribute, wholesale, and sell non-medicinal cannabis inclusive of a government owned online channel with a mandate to support government's key priorities of protecting public health and safety, promoting social responsibility, and eliminating the illicit market. Since 2018, the BC Cannabis Stores chain has grown to 39 locations across the province, providing an educational, safe, and socially responsible outlet for the BC public to engage with non-medical cannabis products. We distribute cannabis to all licensed retail locations across BC and work with licensed producers across Canada to provide a wide product assortment that is centrally distributed. Cannabis operations within the BCLDB includes the Distribution, Merchandising, Retail Operations, Supply Chain, and Marketing departments.

About this role:

The Branch operates one Cannabis Distribution Centre. Under the direction of a supervisor, the Warehouse Worker 3 operates various material handling equipment, including an electric pallet jack, order picker, manual push cart, high-reach forklift, dock-stocker forklift, and picking tug to load and unload trucks and trailers and move product within the DC.

The Warehouse Worker 3 ensures the safe and efficient operation of all material handling equipment certified to operate in a fast-paced distribution environment utilizing a Warehouse Management System based on radio-frequency technology. Maintains Key Point Indicators (KPIs) set forth by management for short term goals and long term goals, which are monitored and reported by the hour.

A criminal record check is required. Candidates must be 19 years of age and legally entitled to work in Canada.

Candidates are required to operate various mechanical and hand-operated equipment including electric pallet movers; walk between 8km - 15km per shift each day; carry 10 Ibs. consistently throughout the day; and may be required to lift cases up to 50 lbs. and perform other general warehouse duties including frequent bending, standing, pushing, pulling or carrying. The position also requires the ability to work rotating shifts in a non-air-conditioned, noisy warehouse environment with conveyors, material handling, and packing equipment operating. Steel-toed boots are required, Candidates must be able to work a variety of shift patterns; candidates must be available to work a rotating roster, including evenings and weekends.

Education and Experience:
  • Secondary (high) school diploma or equivalent certificate.
  • A minimum of one (1) year of recent experience*

*Recent experience must have occurred within the last five (5) years and must include the following:
  • Experience working in distribution/warehouse environment.

Preference may be given to candidates with any of the following experience:
  • Experience within the Cannabis industry.
  • Experience in a unionized environment.
  • Experience with Tecsys Warehouse Management System.
  • Experience within an E-commerce environment.
  • Experience with Material Handling Equipment, i.e., forklifts, reach trucks orelectric pallet movers.

About BC Liquor Distribution Branch

In British Columbia, there are two branches of government that have responsibility for the liquor industry: the Liquor Control and Licensing Branch (LCLB) and the Liquor Distribution Branch (LDB). Both of these branches currently report to the Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General. The LCLB issues licences for making and selling liquor and supervises the service of liquor in licensed establishments.
