Position Information
Location Hybrid / New Westminster Campus / Coquitlam Campus Salary Range
Band 11 (Minimum- $92,139.00 , Control Point- $122,852.00, Maximum- $135,137.00). Placement within a salary band is typically up to Control Point based on skills, experience and internal equity. May place over Control Point in limited circumstances.
The Opportunity
The Manager, Bookstore requires a thorough knowledge of retail merchandising, marketing, and management methods necessary to lead the operations of the bookstores. Responsibilities also include management of the print shop located at the New Westminster campus.
You are a strategic leader in the operations of the bookstore and print shop and make decisions informed by best practices, maximizing both quality and value. You believe in client centric services and application of leading management practices.
Guided by the College's Strategic Plan, you champion the evolution of the bookstore and the print shop at the College, fostering a departmental culture of innovation, service excellence and team work.
Great at building relationships, you will manage relationships with vendors to ensure the lowest cost and timely delivery of merchandise to optimize inventory levels.

WHAT IT TAKES
• Completion of a Bachelor of Business Administration degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Progressively responsible retail management expertise with at least five years' experience in leading retail operations.
• Demonstrated experience supervising staff in a retail sales environment.
• Highly competent and detail oriented when working with retail financial analysis, monitoring budgets, and inventory controls.
• Excellent written and oral communications skills.
• Demonstrated experience using computer software packages for word processing, spreadsheets, databases, presentations, and virtual meeting applications.
• Strong ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
• Demonstrated ability to work positively and professionally with the public, government departments, and College employees at all levels.
• Ability to exercise good judgment in recognizing scope of authority and protecting confidential and sensitive information.
• Demonstrated abilities that align with the Douglas College Core Competency Framework.
Additional Information
• This regular full-time position is available May 1, 2025.
• Regular hours of work are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday. Travel between Douglas College's locations as required.
