Job Summary
The Team
The Maples Adolescent Treatment Centre (Maples) is a designated Mental Health facility and part of the Ministry of Children and Family Development. Services are delivered on-site in Coquitlam, Prince George and Vernon and community services are provided across the province. Through its programs and services, the Maples supports families, caregivers and communities in caring for and treating young people with severe and enduring mental health and behavioral difficulties. The Maples also provides services for young people Unfit to Stand Trial, or found Not Criminally Responsible Due to a Mental Disorder.
The Role
At the Maples, Mental Health Clinicians have an important role to play on the multi-disciplinary team and work alongside other professionals such as Elders, Child and Youth Care Workers, Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Nurses, Indigenous Child Care Counsellors, Recreation staff and Teachers. You will provide a range of mental health services to children, youth, and families when the child or youth is suffering from serious emotional, psychological, behavioral, or psychiatric illness. Child and Youth Mental Health Clinicians provide direct clinical services such as intake, assessment, treatment, suicide risk assessment, safety plans and crisis intervention for children, youth, and their families. Clinicians work in flexible ways including on-site and in community settings. Maples Clinicians work with families/caregivers and communities to support coordinated services, develop plans, and work towards positive outcomes for children, youth and families.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Ph.D. in Clinical/Applied Psychology, Counselling Psychology, OR PsyD, AND *registered with, or eligible for, registration with theCollege of Health and Care Professionals of British Columbia(CHCPBC).
- *Note: If you are registered as a Psychologist in another province, equivalencies for out of province applicants may be considered by theCollege of Health and Care Professionals of British Columbia(CHCPBC). Please contact the association for registration requirements in BC.

You must provide a basic report by the closing date of this posting to be considered.
- Completion of a psychological pre-or post-doctoral internship of 1600 hours in a child and youth mental health or hospital setting with specialization in formal psychological assessment, diagnoses and treatment of mental health disorders.
- Experience in clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology.
- Minimum of one year full-time equivalent experience working with children and youth and their families, with responsibility for providing a wide range of community based mental health services.
- Must possess and maintain a valid class 5 BC Driver's license with no restriction or equivalent (i.e. from another Canadian Province).
Preference may be given to applicants with the following:
- Five years or more experience working with children and youth, with moderate to severe and enduring mental health challenges, and their families.
- Experience in providing direct interventions around the trauma-based behaviors of children and youth.
- Experience providing a mental health assessment and treatment in a hospital setting.
- Applicants who self-identify as First Nations, Métis or Inuit with the required combination of education and experience.
