Position Summary

We are seeking a motivated Licensed Practical Nurse with a dedication for delivering compassionate patient care to join our team in the Operating Room department at Mills Memorial Hospital.
Under the direction of a registered nurse in charge, provides direct patient care to patients on the Medical/Surgical Unit, and possibly to other nursing units within the facility as appropriate. Assists with assessment, direct patient care as assigned, and performs clerical duties related to the work of the Unit.
Northern Health Regional Operating Room Education (RORE) The American Operating Room Nurse's (AORN) Periop-101 course is a blended learning program that delivers standardized education on the foundational skills of perioperative nursing. The program includes a 7-week course using a blended learning approach and a practicum paired with a preceptor to consolidate skills. The course and practicum will prepare nurses to provide safe and competent perioperative nursing care at a novice level.
• There are 2 training positions available for 2024/2025
• Northern Health provides placement support and funding for tuition, textbooks, and travel expenses for clinical placements, as required
• Learners should expect to make a 6 - 12 month commitment for this education, which includes online and in-person learning
• Additional study time, outside of schedule hours, may be required to successfully complete the program
• Flexibility for practicums is necessary
• Applicants must successfully complete the education program prior to working in the department
• Upon successful completion of the education program, Northern Health requires an eighteen (18) month return of service in a regular position in the area of nursing applicable to the education program.
• Qualified applicants will be considered first for specialty positions. If there are no qualified applicants, training lines will be awarded to unqualified applicants and training will be provided.

Shift Rotation/Hours of work: Monday to Friday, Days, 08:00 to 16:00
Mills Memorial Hospital is a fully accredited 44-bed Acute Care facility and receives an average of 24,700 ER visits per year. Services include:
• 10-bed Psychiatric unit
• 3 surgical suites
• Three ICU beds
• Extensive Day Care service
• Community Cancer clinic
• Community based programs such as
• Chronic disease management
• Meals on wheels
• Diagnostic and specialist center
• CT and Nuclear Medicine services

Qualfications
• Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing LPN registrant.
• Has current C.P.R. certification.
