Our Geotechnical and Materials team is looking for students to join our field and laboratory testing teams in Langley and Burnaby for a summer co-op placement.

Salary range (in British Columbia): $22.00/hr - $31.75/hr
The final salary awarded for this role may vary from the above range based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs. What you can expect to do here:
- Carry out field and laboratory tests to known industry standards on soils, aggregates as well as concrete and other construction materials to applicable standards.
- Participate in relevant CCIL certifications as needed, and ensuring prompt and accurate testing and reporting of results.
- Complete accurate and concise data gathering for a variety of test methods in a manner suitable for efficient data entry of test results to produce a final and accurate report;
- Participate in the laboratory quality control program, supporting internal/external audits and assisting in the identification and investigation as well as communicating of non-conformances to the Lab Lead;
- Support sample management and the safe materials handling practices required for shipping, receiving, logging, handling, storage and disposal of samples;
- Carry out laboratory tests on soils, aggregates, concrete, and other construction materials
- Provide support during geotechnical and environmental drilling programs.
- Work with and providing support to other members of the field technician group in assisting with other field, lab, and office activities as required.
- Participate in a team environment.
What you'll bring to WSP:
- Enrolment in a post-secondary technical education in Civil Engineering/Technology or related discipline;
- Previous experience in Geotechnical/Materials field testing is preferred;
- Individual certification with the Canadian Council of Independent Laboratories preferred;
- Time management skills, organizational skills, independent thinking skills, problem-solving and analytical skills;
- Ability to take direction and work independently as well as be a team member and collaborate with other lab personnel;
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and ability to schedule and coordinate multiple tasks and assignments;
- Accurate and efficient computer skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) with data entry, data interpretation and report generating skills;
- Sound understanding of the need for health and safety procedures in the workplace/Possess a safety conscious attitude
- Safety oriented attitude; current First Aid and WHMIS training will be considered an asset
