Position Summary

In accordance with the vision, mission, values and strategic priorities of Northern Health, the Director, HIM leads a team responsible for delivering Health Information Management (HIM) to the organization, which includes functions such as registration, release of information, records management and processing, health informatics and information management (HIIM) services and business process redesign. The Director leads changes as needed to ensure that HIM functions in Northern Health are delivered in a manner that supports integrated care and high-quality service delivery. Key accountabilities also include leading complex projects and quality improvement initiatives, managing high level stakeholder relationships and managing contractual arrangements related to HIM services. The position is a health informatics leader, advancing healthcare transformation within a framework of people, processes and technology to improve healthcare services.
Starting salary will be approximately from $116,591 to $145,739 and will be based on education, training, experience, and salaries of similar positions.

Qualfications
• Bachelor's degree in health information science or a related discipline plus a minimum of 7 (seven) to 10 (ten) years of progressively more responsible health information management experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Demonstrated experience in effectively influencing leaders and implementing organizational change.
• Certification with the Canadian College of Health Information Management (CCHIM) an asset.
Skills and Abilities:
• Demonstrated ability to lead change and build and manage teams.
• Excellent communication skills including the ability to facilitate and negotiate effectively.
• Demonstrated organizational and planning skills.
• Demonstrated ability to establish and manage relationships with strategic partners and solution providers.
• Ability to adapt to a rapid and changing environment and respond with initiative.
• Ability to interact professionally with various levels of personnel, both internally and externally
• Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong understanding of healthcare informatics
• Strong understanding of health care and the care process as it relates to records management and the electronic health record.
• Demonstrated ability to respond to the needs of stakeholders supported by an awareness of the impact of action.
• Demonstrated ability to establish courses of action for self and others that are results oriented.
• Demonstrated project management experience with multi-faceted projects and stringent timelines.
• Proven team player, contributes to team goals, encourage sand supports team members and ability to work effectively in a virtual team environment.
• Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with people at all levels and with varying backgrounds.
• Ability to write strategy papers, prepare effective presentations and train others.
• Demonstrated clinical competence.
• In-depth understanding of health services and record management operations
