The Communications Specialist, Web Services is responsible for providing day-to-day web and multimedia services for Northern Health, including, but not limited to:
• Developing and maintaining a vibrant and fresh interface with our digital audiences;
• Assisting with day-to-day multimedia and web-based health informational needs of stakeholder groups;
• Assisting in the implementation of communications priorities with a particular focus on enhancing the digital and web communications for NH's Health Human Resource Strategy, including staff and physician recruitment needs;
• Providing web and multimedia-based communications support to significant projects;
• Assisting with NH's intranet as required;
• Assisting in emergency and confidential communications activities, as required;
• Assisting with web writing and/or editing for site-wide page content.
Starting salary will be approximately from $74,618 to $93,273 and will be based on education, training, experience, and salaries of similar positions.

Qualfications
• Bachelor's degree in Web Technologies, Communications, Public Relations or Marketing;
• Five (5) years' experience in web editing and writing for the web;
• Experience in using and administering the Drupal Content Management Systems;
• Three (3) years' experience in website front-end development using PHP, HTML, HTML5, SASS, CSS, media queries and JavaScript/Query;
• Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Previous experience with Sharepoint and Microsoft 365 an asset.
• Previous experience in a health care or government organizations, or a not-for-profit or corporate environment an asset.
• Knowledge of current health topics and issues in BC and within the NH region an asset.
• Previous experience managing social media platforms for an organization an asset.
Skills and Abilities:
• Extensive knowledge of communications tools and practices used within a corporate environment.
• Extensive knowledge of development and design for social media, web, and intranet.
• Demonstrated exceptional written communication and editing skills, for a variety of audiences, including the web.
• Exceptional eye for detail with regards to written documents and design/layout/content of web pages, documents and publications.
• Demonstrated experience in design, photography, publications production, desktop publishing and electronic communications.
• Advanced knowledge of graphics software such as Adobe Photoshop.
• Proficient using Google Analytics and Google Search Console.
• Demonstrated experience with SASS, CSS, HTML5, PHP and Gulp.
• Understanding of accessibility (WCAG) principles and how to implement them.
• Understand of the fundamentals of UX/UI and demonstrated commitment to outstanding web design.
• Demonstrated understanding and practical application of SharePoint.
• Strong requirements gathering skills.
• Strong understanding of SEO development and best practices.
• Ability to lead training and education sessions for groups or individuals on web and multimedia services and other topics as needed.
• Ability to exercise good judgment and to communicate in a confident and effective manner.
• Ability to build and foster relationships between organizations and groups.
• Ability to handle confidential and/or sensitive issues in a professional manner.
• Ability to remain calm, alert and high-functioning in stressful situations.
• Ability to work independently and under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
• Ability to set priorities and be results-oriented.
• Ability to work effectively with senior leaders and other stakeholders.
• Flexibility to provide after-hours service in emergency or unpredictable circumstances.
