The Clinical Resource Nurse (CRN) provides leadership in the delivery of care activities in defined areas of clinical expertise. In conjunction with the Clinical Nurse Coordinator/Leader, Assessment Module Leader, Nurse Educators and the Professional Practice Leader - Nursing, the CRN supervises nursing practice, provides clinical leadership, guidance and support to team members. The CRN acts as a clinical resource for nurses, nursing students and the interdisciplinary team. Assists staff in providing quality care and related quality assurance requirements for an identified patient population by providing information based on theory/practice, assessing clinical/technical skills and participating in the direct patient care as appropriate, in accordance with established standards, policies and procedures.

What you'll do
- Deliver certification courses in topics such as Chemotherapy administration, IV therapy, Central Venous Catheter care, perioperative and postanaestheia nursing in brachytherapy to nurses by means such as self-learning modules and other written materials, presenting didactic sessions and overseeing clinical practicums.
- Organize and deliver orientation sessions for new nursing employees by means such as presenting clinical skills, practice tools and other related information.
- In collaboration with the Clinical Nurse Coordinator/Leader, Assessment Module Leader and Professional Practice Leader or designate, identify individual nurse's learning needs and helps to implement appropriate plan to allow a nurse to achieve desired level of competency related to knowledge, skills, attitudes, and clinical judgments. Participate in competency based education/preceptorship pathways. Strategies used to mentor will include role modeling, coaching, teaching and acting as a clinical resource for nursing staff by sharing clinical expertise and providing clinical guidance. Coach nursing staff regarding nursing practice skills by demonstration and explanation and by encouraging staff to take advantage of learning opportunities.
- In collaboration with Professional Practice, develop and assess written and electronic or other visual instructional materials by means such as acquiring information, developing and editing the content.
- Participate in the performance appraisal process for nursing staff by providing input to the Clinical Nurse Coordinator/Leader, Assessment Module Leader on individual nurse's performance.
- Provide clinical leadership and consultation to clinical staff and students to assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care through methods such as ensuring compliance with standards of practice and promoting staff collaboration with health care professionals.
- Assist the Clinical Nurse Coordinator/Leader, Assessment Module Leader with planning, developing and evaluating patient care by providing input regarding clinical practice and the provision of new and/or revised policies, procedures, standards and criteria for the unit, in conjunction with the interdisciplinary team and professional practice. Ensure necessary equipment and supplies are available and informs the Clinical Nurse Coordinator/Leader, Assessment Module Leader or designate when problems arise.
- Collaborate with the Clinical Nurse Coordinator/Leader, Assessment Module Leader or delegate and Professional Practice to coordinate the introduction of new skills/procedures, and arrangement of in-service sessions/orientations as required.
What you bring
Qualifications:
- Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration as an RN with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
- Three years recent clinical experience in a related program or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
