The Department of Psychiatry at BC Children's Hospital is expanding! We are seeking a psychiatrist interested in working with children, youth, and their families as they access our acute mental health service. This position is part of a multidisciplinary team, including Nursing, Social Work and Psychiatry, providing acute inpatient and outpatient child and youth mental health services at the site. This Service is provided within a strong and collaborative multidisciplinary team, including a Nursing, Social Work, Youth and Family Counseling, as well as Peer Support Workers. Access to other allied disciplines, including Psychology, can be also be arranged as necessary. A dedicated Mental Health Liaison Nurse is also provided by our Emergency Department. As we are a tertiary/quaternary service, serving the entire province, comfort with complex mental health presentations is an asset.

Participation in the regular call pool is expected, and call frequency is typically 2 shifts (usually one weekend day and one overnight) per month, providing support to the Emergency Department and to medical and psychiatric inpatient units overnight. On weekends, two psychiatrists share the call during the day.
