Job Summary

The Team
The Kamloops South Shore Child and Youth Mental Health Team is a dedicated group of eight clinicians, and one Team Leader who deliver comprehensive mental health services to children and youth from birth to 19 years old. This team is a diverse group comprised of long term and newly hired employees and includes specialists in early childhood mental health, integrated practice services, and early psychosis services, all working collaboratively within Ministry Children and Family Development and with community partners, including Indigenous organizations. Our work is deeply impactful, addressing the needs of our most vulnerable and high-risk children and youth, ensuring they receive the highest quality of care and support.

The Role
As the Team Leader for the Kamloops South Shore Child and Youth Mental Health Team, you will play a crucial role in guiding and supporting a dedicated group of clinicians to deliver top-quality mental health services to local area children and youth. Your leadership will directly impact the well-being and functioning of vulnerable clients, ensuring they receive the care they need. This role offers an exciting opportunity to shape the future of the team, aligning local efforts with the broader vision and goals of CYMH across the province, all while fostering a supportive and inclusive environment.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Nursing and Licensed to practice nursing under the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives.
    • NOTE: If this education was obtained outside of Canada, you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services ( ICES ). You must provide a basic report by the closing date of this posting to be considered.
  • Experience in the provision of mental health services to children, youth and their families.
  • Experience supervising staff.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid class 5 BC Driver's licence with no restriction or equivalent (i.e. from another Canadian Province).

Preference may be given to applicants with the following:
  • One (1) or more years of in the provision of mental health services to children, youth and their families.
  • Six or more months of experience leading staff in a supervisory capacity.
  • Six or more months of experience working collaboratively with Ministry of Children and Family Development child services teams, Health Authorities, and community partners.
  • Six or more months of experience supervising Child and Youth Mental Health teams.
  • Six or more months of experience supervising early childhood mental health services or integrated practice services and early psychosis services.
  • Applicants who self-identify as First Nations, Métis or Inuit with the required combination of education and experience.
