Job Summary

The Team
The Kamloops Rural Child and Youth Mental Health (CYMH) team is a welcoming and collaborative group of professionals dedicated to supporting the mental health of children, youth, and families in the rural areas surrounding Kamloops. Established two years ago, this team includes five experienced Clinicians, one Support Worker, and a Team Leader, all working together to serve a large and diverse geographic region. Partnering closely with local schools, Ministry Social Workers, and community agencies, the team plays a vital role in improving access to mental health resources for remote communities. This is a supportive and innovative environment where your contributions truly make a difference.

The Role
The Clinician provides mental health services to children, youth, and families in rural communities, offering critical supports like intake, therapy, treatment planning, and risk assessments. As a key member of the new Integrated Child and Youth (ICY) team in School District 58, you'll collaborate closely with the health authority and the school district to deliver wraparound, accessible mental health supports. Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Registered or eligible for immediate registration as a Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM), with a Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
    • NOTE: If your degree was obtained outside of Canada, you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services ( ICES ). You must provide a basic report by the closing date of this posting to be considered.
  • Minimum of one year full-time equivalent experience working with children and youth and their families, with responsibility for providing a wide range of community based mental health services.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid class 5 BC Driver's license with no restriction or equivalent (i.e. from another Canadian Province).

Preference may be given to applicants with the following:
  • Two years or more experience working with children and youth and their families, with responsibility for providing a wide range of community based mental health services.
  • Applicants who self-identify as Indigenous (First Nations, Métis or Inuit) with the required combination of education and experience.

About this Position:
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 2 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
