Job Summary

The Team
The Financial Management Branch (FMB) is a well-established team of dedicated professionals working primarily out of Victoria and Vancouver. This collaborative team is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining government procurement policies across the Province of British Columbia. FMB partners with a wide range of groups, including other ministries, Crown agencies, and the procurement and financial communities, to ensure procurement activities are conducted transparently and fairly. With a commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion, the FMB's work plays a vital role in promoting fair and effective procurement practices, helping create a sustainable impact on government's financial control framework.

The Role
The Core Policy Advisor provides essential procurement and financial expertise, analysis, and guidance to senior management, executive leaders, and cross-government agencies. They lead initiatives to shape, develop, and implement policies that drive impactful change across government procurement and financial practices. This role offers a meaningful opportunity to build collaborative relationships and support the management of key policies, including the Core Policy and Procedures Manual , ensuring that diverse perspectives and equitable practices are integrated into procurement and financial processes.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
  • Degree in business administration, public administration, or a related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in:
    • Procurement and/or financial practice.
    • Policy development, analysis and interpretation in procurement and/or the financial field.


Preference may be given to applicants with:
  • A professional designation in procurement or accounting.
  • Experience in public procurement practice, procurement law, trade agreements, or public procurement policy research and analysis.

About this Position:
This position can be based out of Victoria or Vancouver.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 4 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
An eligibility list may be established to fill both current and/or future permanent vacancies.
A Criminal Record Check (CRC) will be required.
Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
