The Database Administrator (DBA) is responsible for the overall management and maintenance of information databases used to operate the infrastructure and technology platform. The DBA will collaborate with technical and business user groups to ensure that databases are performing optimally, and service level agreements set by the enterprise are adhered to.
What you'll get to do:
Identify and resolve all issues related to database systems to ensure that systems are online and without service interruption. Collaborate with development, architecture, and infrastructure team to design, configure, and manage databases using Transact SQL-based MS SQL Server to ensure the integrity, security, and accessibility of the organization's data. Design, enhance and implement approaches to improve database performance, capacity, and scalability according to business needs. Define standards for physical data storage, maintenance, access, and security administration. Configure database parameters and defines data repository requirements, data dictionaries, and warehousing requirements. Ensure each user has access to an appropriate database instance with its unique collection of objects. Responds to performance and database alerts coming in via email, ServiceNow incidents and requests, and PagerDuty alerts. Prepare Data/Disaster Recovery Plan and follows database Backup and Restoration Strategy when needed. Ensures that systems are online and without service interruption. Troubleshoot performance issues using a wide-variety of tools such as SQL Profiler, Extended Events, Query Store as well as third-party add-ins. Generate reports using SSRS, create data warehouses using SSAS, and create data pipelines using SSIS and Visual Studio. Rotational on-call is required to support a 24/7 Production environment.
Who are we looking for?
Minimum 5 years' experience in Database Administration and Database Development. University degree, diploma or certificate in IT or a related field. Proficient with relational and non-relational databases and in-depth knowledge of database coding for various platforms (e.g. MS SQL Server, MySQL, Mongo DB). Experience in designing and implementing database structures and automating DBA tasks. Experience with data modeling and schema design. Strong analytical, problem solving and prioritization skills. Strong attention to detail with an ability to anticipate risks and mitigate it. Adept at managing multiple deadlines and shifting priorities. Excellent communication skills with an ability to facilitate discussions and communicate technical concepts and recommendations to non-technical staff.
